I keep my coins in a hardware wallet. I find it a lot safer than online wallets. I also started by using an online wallet and during those times, I make sure not to easily click on links sent via emails because it could be a trap.

That's a good reminder. Many spam emails are phishing for our details. So always be wary of suspicious emails and even advertisements.
