Is day mining effective for Altcoins?

We are aware that most of the market positions of the famous cryptocurrencies constantly change, where a simple error could burn our entire funds or miss the opportunity to have a profitable outcome. It's one of the reasons why some investors choose the right mining algorithm and even formulate an aggressive mining behavior just to minimize their losses. The best example of this is a day mining or simply known as day trading. Few claimed that it's more effective than mining at launch. As a newbie,all I can say is both strategies are very risky. Can anyone enlighten this? It would be appreciated if you could reply.
