I am thinking the same. You can open a bank account for her instead and put the converted coins there. I think it would even be better if you hold onto it for a while and keep saving until she reaches 18. Well, this is assuming that it's a birthday present for her.

I think a 13-year old is too young to be given Bitcoin and I don't think there's anywhere you can sign her up. What you can do is keep the coins, grow it, and give it to her when the time is right. You never know, 5 years from now, Bitcoin could greatly boost. Then, you can give her a larger value.
